Dear Parent or Guardian,
The purpose of this letter is to explain the full remote option for STHS and STCTC, as well as to support
students in making sure they are prepared to successfully begin and complete courses through VirtualSC. On
December 8, 2020 the Edgefield County Board of Education voted to approve the recommendation that
beginning January 25, 2021, full remote students in grades 9-12 would be served through the VirtualSC
Franchise program, with the exception of AP/Honors, CTE and Related Arts not provided through VirtualSC.
These students will have the option to take these courses in person on either the STHS or STCTC campus.
The chart below outlines the courses that will be offered through VirtualSC for our full remote students during
the second semester.

AP/Honors, CTE and Related Arts not provided through VirtualSC
Full remote students taking classes on campus that are not offered through VirtualSC
● Full remote students are permitted to take up to a combination of two AP/Honors, Related Arts, or CTE
classes on campus as they desire.
● If students choose to take three, they must return full time.
● The request to come on campus must be approved by the principal/director prior to scheduling the
courses.
A full remote student coming on campus for CTE classes:
● The student should go directly to the Career Center to check in.
● The student would remain in the Career Center until they check out to leave.
A full remote student coming on STHS campus:
● The student would check in at the commons entrance (manned by Coach Rouse).
● They would remain on the HS campus until they were finished with class.
● They would check out in the same location when they were ready to leave.

Please use the attached support document to assist with the registration and navigation of the VirtualSC

Parent Tips for VirtualSC
Parents play a vital role in their child's education. By taking a few simple steps at home, you can help your child
enjoy school more, improve their studying and homework skills and prepare for college. Nothing helps a child
succeed like an involved parent. A little willingness from parents can work wonders, especially in the online
classroom. Click the link or visit https://virtualsc.org/tips-for-parents/ for some parent tips for VirtualSC.

Grade Reporting
IMPORTANT!!!
For all VirtualSC classes, grades will be reported through the VirtualSC gradebook. Course and work progress should be communicated through virtual meetings, phone calls, emails and/or VirtualSC reports.
In PowerSchool, the online initial-credit or credit recovery course will only have one assignment
within the grade field. This grade will be 100% of the grade. If the course requires an EOC exam, the final
course grade must include the calculation for the EOC exam. The teacher responsible will enter final grades in
Powerschool.
****Please sign the Edgefield County School District VirtualSC or APEX Student Success Agreement and
return it to the counselor, principal, or at least one of your second semester teachers.****
