Christmas Shopping At STHS

It looks like the elves at Strom Thurmond High are extremely busy at work creating handcrafted pieces for the Christmas shop opening soon. Under the direction of Edgefield County School’s Teacher of the Year, Michael Zachary, as well as teachers Jody Grennor, and Richard Tyson, students are fashioning unique gift items using power tools, mainly the skill saw.  Not only are they sanding, painting and gluing ornaments, they are reading recipes and preparing a few food items just in time for the upcoming holiday season. Handmade holiday cards and gift tags will be available for purchase as well as Christmas wrapping services for any gift items, not just those purchased at the shop. In addition to this enjoyable experience, the students are also building pre-employment skills that will benefit each one as they enter the workforce after graduation.

This year the Christmas Shoppe will be showcased during regular school hours, 8 a.m. - 3:20 p. m. from December 7-17. Gift wrapping will be available on Fridays, December 7 and 14.

Preparing for their grand opening, students work diligently on various crafts to sell in the STHS Christmas Shoppe. From Back to front, left to right are Tyreke Frazier, Rachel Lavallee, Mayeli Andrade Velasquez and Tanara Mathis.
