This November, the STHS NJROTC cadets have diligently collected and stocked canned food for their canned food drive. An annual event, non-perishable food donations as well as financial support from cadets, students and teachers at Strom Thurmond High School were accepted. The cadets collected the items daily and accumulated them in the NJ classroom.  Even the school’s library accepted food donations to reduce student overdue fines, which, in turn, were donated to the cause. This year twenty-two turkeys were purchased for local families in need who reside in the surrounding areas of Edgefield County.

On November 19, cadets and parents helped to deliver the turkeys and canned foods to these extremely grateful families personally.  Cadet Allen Clark recalled, “When we went to the door and asked if this was the right address, we gave the resident the box of food. She became very emotional and said thank you with tears in her eyes. I will always remember that.”  Chief Warrant Officer-4, Andre Fervil, USMC (Ret) and P.O. Eugene Tyrone Face, NC1/SW USN (Ret) would like to thank all who supported this year’s charitable event. Happy Thanksgiving to all!
