NJROTC Make Parris Island Orientation
STHS Cadets At Parris Island Orientation

Thirty-seven NJROTC Rebel Cadets and six parents participated in an orientation trip to Parris Island, SC, February 13-15, to explore how recruits live and train to become United States Marines. The cadets participated in some light training, experiencing activities such as running obstacle and confidence courses, observing a firing exercise and then ISMT (Indoor Military Marksmanship Training), an activity designed to enhance a shooter’s marksmanship abilities and weapon employment.  They ate and slept in the barracks or squad bay. For some it was an eye-opener especially when it came to making a bed “the correct way”.   Later the cadets had the opportunity to visit the PX (a store operated by the Army and Air Force Exchange Service on US Army posts) and the USMC Museum where they learned about Marine Corps history past and present. The cadets enjoyed their time spent under the leadership of who Marine Drill Instructor Wade was tasked in escorting the unit during the tour. Chief Warrant Officer-4 André Fervil USMC Ret. took the cadets bowling Saturday evening during their personal time. Very excited, many of these cadets are looking forward to the next orientation trip.
